What's new with Attached to Baby Baby Sling and Carrier Store and Babywearing Community
  • Local Denver mama - designer of the Nori babywearing vest in the news

Just got word that the Nori Peekaru babywearing vest was on the news yesterday. Melissa Radcliffe, from Denver, CO designed a fleece babywearing vest to go over your baby carriers to help keep baby warm. I've had a chance to speak to Melissa via the phone, but should be able to meet her in person at a local Boulder, CO babywearing meeting hopefully next week.

You can check out the vests at Melissa's website: www.togetherbe.com

Coincidentally, Attached to Baby will be carrying them starting this week! We live in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, so our Nori vest has been indispensable for all our outdoor activities - hiking, snowshoeing... We hope you check it out and love the Nori too!

    Check it out the article/video!

  • Kozy is coming to ATB!

One of the world's best-loved Mei Tai carriers - the Kozy Carrier is going to be carried at Attached to Baby! We have been waiting for so long for this moment. :)

There will be some exclusive fabrics available just for distributors (Victoria, Windsor, Urbanna, and Countryside), and I'll also carry some all-time Kozy favorites, hopefully all will be stocked soon.

  • Our First Print Ad coming in Mothering magazine

Just so you all know how busy I am here at the ATB headquarter office, I am laying a bit low lately trying to prepare for the busy holiday season. The babywearing industry I learned typically has a lull in the fall and then picks up in December, but it is not until January until it really takes off, and then is full-speed ahead until mid-summer. Mamas spend on other people this time of year mostly. At least that is what I have learned by my brief 2-year experience and talking with other babywearing vendors.

One of the most exciting things we are looking forward to, is seeing our very first print ad in Mothering magazine! You will all want to head out in January (if you don't already have a subscription), as there will be a great babywearing 15 or so page spread all about babywearing! The vendors also all pitched in for a one-page coop ad and we are promoting both www.TheBabywearer.com and www.nineinnineout.org . So hopefully more mamas will flock to these sites and learn the benefits of babywearing.

  • Didymos shipment in Denver, CO! Update on ATB Didymos

    October Didy Order

Our next big 100+  Didymos order has arrived to Denver, CO! I hope it arrives to ATB Warehouse by Wednesday November 1, but for sure sometime this week.

As it arrives, we will first focus on shipping out backorders (we have some from September!) and then let people know that their Limited Edition Didys are in. We did not get as many as we expected, and we will wait until they are physically in our hands to notify the mamas/dads that "preordered" so they can pay and get them.

    ATB Didy

Many of you are asking when these will be ready. We had some unexpected financial problems in October so we could not get started on those as soon as we wanted. However, that will be our priority for November. It will probably take some time though, and we do not have swatches, photos, pricing, etc.. on these yet until they at least have entered the manufacturing process. I have to design these myself (colors/logo placement), so at least I can share that prototype with everyone. I then mail my prototype to Didymos to manufacture.

We do have a good idea of the demand on colors and sizing. We're only going to order one color at a time, and Lavender/Cream will be first. As soon as I find out more, I will update here.

You can submit a verbal request on what size/color you think you may like. Just send an email (http://store.attachedtobaby.com/contact.aspx) and we'll put you down on the list. No obligations and you can change your mind, we just need an estimate for the demand and we'll also email you when they're ready. I may start a Subscription thread that you can subscribe to so you can be automatically notified on updated.

  • Didymos shipment has arrived, New Hotslings reversible Kaleidoscope, Maya Wraps

Our August order has arrived, a week later than expected once it shipped, but hey, better late than never!

Unfortunately, there were a few missing that I thought would be in (and I paid for, according to the invoice). I plan to place our September Didy order asap, as we're already low - there have been so many orders and backorders and preorders. Needless to say, a bit challenging to keep on top of!

We spent the afternoon counting and sorting, then taking out the backorders and started packing them to ship. The backorders are getting a free little promotional gift as our thank you for helping us make our first big Didy order after our move, it was a long summer hiatus from ordering these wraps. Tomorrow I will go through our preorder request list, contact those who submitted a request to have them order, and we can ship them out too. Then I will add the rest back to the site and everyone can order from the new shipment!

In addition to restocking our normal Didys, here are a few of the limited editions we got: Elisa/Yoko pink rhombus, Indio Koralle, Indio Mineral, Sky Blue, Gold Linen, Blue/white wool, Indio Green, Nino Natural, Tom and Sven...

Yesterday we also got our first huge Maya Wrap shipment in after the big move. I was up until 3:30am just trying to count and package it all, and I'm still not done! That will update our Padded Slings, regular slings, adjustable pouches, Maya Ties... at least all that Maya Wrap had on hand this month. I need to do another order soon, these Maya Wrap items have been moving fast lately!

Last but not least, introducing Kaleidoscope - the new Hotslings reversible!

  • Upgraded our Community Server

I upgraded our Community Server to the latest version tonight - 2.1. Many new features have been added, so check it out! Check out your Gallery, we can now sort them once again the way we want, woo hoo!

You may have already noticed, but I have yet to incorporate our full design in this new upgrade, but I thought it was most important to get this launched. Ooh and smilies are now easier to use.

Didymos shipment has landed in Denver today. They should come in next week.

BabyLegs are now fully stocked. For those of you who have been wanting the Light Blue/Lime/Aqua, they unfortunately are being discontinued, so I suggest snatching them up if you've had your eye on them. They were probably our most popular stripes, after Neapolitan, which is now in stock after being out for so long.

Our small order of P-slings arrived. We'll be carrying more, they are so beautiful. A large order of Hotslings also arrived today, including more Black Fleece 2006.

  • Settled in new warehouse, now busily adding new inventory

We are loving the spacious and organized warehouse area for Attached to Baby (rather than in our old cramped basement before the move). After six weeks, we've started a new shipping employee! His name is Paul and he's been sending out all the fluffy mail and is working out great!

We've ordered pretty much a bit of everything to replenish our inventory quickly. Stock got low during the move as we had our moving sale and then didn't order for a few months. We're now ordering up and rebuilding the inventory - this time we don't need to worry about running out of space!

Here's a quick rundown of products of interest: New Hotslings Fleece have arrived, as well as the new Luxury collection, and the hip Pink Shimmer Hotslings. Our Didymos order is complete and ready to ship, we'll be placing another order in the first half of September. I have new Little Gems Mothering Rocks (necklaces) that will be on the site soon, this is great for nursing mamas, babywearing mamas, or any mama that wants a fabulous, baby-friendly necklace! The new ZoloWear sling Zen Garden print is a huge hit! Speaking of slings, new Rockin' Baby slings are now in stock... The Oopa Baby Do'rags and Bloomers are so popular that we can barely keep them before we send them out! And of course, we have a full stock of BabyLegs, including sold-out prints that are hard to find.

We launched our first newsletter tonight (which is why I'm up at 3:30am)... It looks like it all went well, and we welcome you all back if you haven't visited for a long time.

  • This is the weeks of our Move!

Attached to Baby - closed on a new home and warehouse this week in Rollinsville, CO!

We are anxious and excited about our move to the Colorado mountains. Let's hope there will be people up there to help us run the business, that the postal service will be fast, and our Internet connection reliable! :)

For those of you planning to order this month, here are our official "non-shipping dates":
    Tuesday - July 4 = Holiday

Monday - July 10 = We'll be in Colorado flying back and it's Jayna's birthday party that day! Jayna is the daughter of the lady who ships your fluffies out. ;)

Friday - July 14 = Our final move date!

We hope to be back up and running already on Monday July 17.

  • Relocating to Boulder, Colorado!

In the scramble to find new office/warehouse space as we are bursting at the seams having ATB in our home, we first looked at offices here in Minnesota. After a wedding out in Denver, we decided to just make one big move with both our home and business and relocate out there next to the mountains!

Two more trips back to Denver and we settled on living in Boulder, with possibly our home in the foothills or mountains.

This is a huge step for us! We will finally have enough room to stock enough carriers to meet the demand, as well as expand into more product lines, perhaps framed backpacks... We will also have office space so once we move out there, after the shippers, I will hire a office manager to help me with this burgeoning business. It is way too much for one mama to handle by herself.

Wish us luck, and we'll keep you updated on the move!

  • Congratulations to i0lanthe for winning the ATB $300 1-Year Anniversary gift!

We are proud to present our $300 ATB Shopping Spree in honor of being online for a year to i0lanthe!

    Congratulations Bridget!!!

    Party!!! [<:o)]

  • Updated the ATB Community - check it out!

Tonight I upgraded our Attached to Baby Community, so be sure to check out some of the new features! The "View Slideshow" on your Photo Albums is pretty cool, and hopefully things are laid out in a more intuitive way.

I also upgraded the ATB Shop and LiveChat within the past week, so I've been up every night until the wee hours of the morning to launch these updates at a time when few surfers are online. Coming soon is the Chat on the site, can't wait to get that going!

Now that I made all the major upgrades to everything, now I get to focus on continuing to make the site more user-friendly and more content. I'll be integrating a Gift Registry in the shop, so those of you expecting mamas, be sure to add us to your baby shower registry! ;) Other big plans include a new Articles Management system, so we can get more content and information on the site.

We got our new BabyLegs in narrow cuffs in today - a new Argyle print, Purple Polka-dots, and the Pink Bubble Gum to name a few. Let's see, what else is new... I hope to do a photo shoot tomorrow to get the new Mei Tais upon the site that are just arriving this week. Updates on our three Didymos shipments - the first got waylaid, hit the states on March 28, but only now is our customs agent hunting it down, I really apologize about that delay. The second shipment is landing in Minnesota tomorrow, so I expect to ship out the backordered Iris and more next week. The third shipment is being packed this week but will probably ship out next week. From now on, our number one priority is to keep on top of our Didymos inventory! The ATB Didymos of the Month is the Iris - it's so popular and of course we now have a large backorder on it, but at $20 off, it's worth the wait!

  • New Babylegs print in Narrow Cuffs!

Being a babywearing shop, I do talk about BabyLegs alot, don't I?

But I had to share, new BabyLegs prints in Purple Bandana in Narrow Cuffs will be in a few days! I'll have an introductory sale to kick them off. :) Other seasonal BabyLegs will go on sale tomorrow for $8. Coming in a few more days is a new Pink Bubble Gum print!

  • Our first feature in a mainstream magazine - BabyLegs!

BabyLegs put out a full page ad in Pregnancy magazine which hit the stands this week. Attached to Baby is featured as the only distributor other than BabyLegs.net. It's a cute ad and we hope to get expecting mamas into babywearing and of course get their future babes in BabyLegs!

Check out our extensive BabyLegs selection!

  • New Mei Tais in ATB exclusive fabrics for Spring 2006 coming soon!

I am trying to prepare for the season for Mei Tais and have been collecting hordes of fabrics - beautiful cotton prints, luxurious silk brocades, etc...

I finally sent all of them off today to be made into Attached to Baby exclusive spring lines of BabyHawks, FreeHands, and Sachis! About 15 new designs will be available in the next upcoming months for spring 2006!

I didn't get pictures of all the fabrics, but will try to post as many swatches as I can so you can plan your next Mei Tai purchases. :)

Also upcoming for next week is the new EllaRoo Kolamo Mei Tai which we've all been waiting anxiously for, and new Moby Wraps in a sun protection Turquoise color!

Just in early this week are new Oopa Baby slings and accessories, a new Hotslings Red Sateen pouch (which brings back fond memories as my very first Hotslings was a red pouch).

Our Didymos shipment of the next 100+ wraps should be arriving at Attached to Baby later this week, for those of you who preordered, they should be shipping to you very soon! easycares are on the way, and we just placed a large Storch order to be fully stocked, along with some Suze's Kinder coats.

  • Babywearing Shipping Assistant Position available!

After eleven months with our site online, we finally put out an ad for our very first employee! We actually needed to hire employees after our third month in business but that's besides the point. Smile [:)]

As some of you may have gathered, Attached to Baby has been run by one mama this entire year. My husband has his own career still, although he does help with shipping and book-keeping when he is home. Also, I am tremendously appreciative of the Online Babywearing Consultants who have helped (Katrina, Angie, Abigail and Karisa), as well as the Local Babywearing Consultants who sell locally (Beth, Terri, and JoLynda). These ladies have helped provide top-notch support to help thousands of mamas world-wide in choosing the perfect carriers!

However, I feel like can no longer move forward without admitting I need help. I basically have time only for shipping and answering emails as I can get to them. I am having trouble answering the phone, as each phone call easily turns into a 30 minute call, during which time I am frantically trying to make the post office deadlines. I have been unable to move forward or get any further with the site, with all the dreams I have for its potential. Customer service is top priority for me, and I don't want anything to suffer so I need to take some quick action.

So, hopefully, sometime this month, we will find the help we so desperately need. At the moment, I feel like I am one employee trying to run a Baby's R Us (although of course we are nowhere near that big). But I have to stock the shelves continually, while fielding questions about every product, while greeting customers at the door, ringing up orders, answering the phone, receiving shipments, etc... As you can see, it is pretty much impossible for one person to run such a business.

Wish me luck on this next endeavor! You may get to chat with her or see her name signed on your invoices...
