Learn How To Bathe Your Baby
If you think about it, you may want to go back to being a baby, because you were always clean, and you only needed to bathe once a week. As an adult, we need to bathe every day, and some of us bathe several times a day. If you have a new baby, you may be nervous about bathing your child, but this is an easy task, and something that can be accomplished fairly quickly. It’s always best to have a personal tub to bathe the baby in, whether you put the tub in the bathroom sink, kitchen sink, or in the bathtub.
Baby tubs are small, and can usually fit in sinks, or if you’d like, you can put it in the bathtub. A good baby tub will have the baby to lay down in a lying position, with the head arched upwards. This allows you to bathe a child easily, without much strain to yourself or the baby. If you don’t have a tub made specifically for babies, you can always use the sink itself, if it’s clean enough to do so. If you don’t feel the sink’s clean enough, make sure to clean it thoroughly, prior to bathing the baby.
It’s highly recommended that a parent has a baby tub, because it’s safer for the child, and less work for you. For those who do not have a baby tub, you’ll want to grab a towel, and the diaper for the baby, then place the baby in the water. You’ll put your arm behind their head, in order to hold them upwards, so you can bathe them. You’ll want to take your towel and soap it up, then begin to wet the towel with more water, then start bathing the baby.
You’ll want to hold the baby by one hand or the other, in order to keep them upright, as well as holding their head. It’s possible to hold both the head, and support one of the arms, by using only one of your hands. After you’ve washed the front of the child, you can gently lean them upwards, so you can wash their back. If a child cannot sit up yet, then you must hold them gently, in order for you to wash their back properly. You can then lay them back onto your hand, and support them while you rinse off the soap.
Holding the arm of the child will help to give stability, as well as keeping the child upwards. Those who have a baby bath, can do all the bathing while the child is on its back, and only lean the child upwards, in order to wash its back. After you’ve rinsed the soap off the child, you can get the towel, and wrap them in it. Even in warm weather, the child may be cold after coming out of the water, so quickly dry them off, and get them dressed. When bathing a baby, just take care to hold them up properly during bath time.
