So, the environmental thing has got me and I'm switching to cloth.  I used cloth on DS1 when it was time to start potty learning hoping he'd feel the wet and make the connection--didn't happen.  Anyway, bought the CPFs and a few covers.  DS2 doesn't fit the covers we bought for DS1 yet, so I'm looking. 

What I've discovered is that there is a tremendous variety out there and it's reminiscent of the days I first discovered babywearing.  I'm overwhelmed!  And in the same vein as babywearing, everyone has their favorites and none are the same.  WAH!  I need a more focused search!  So I beseach you now!!!

DS2 is 8 months old, prob around 20# and has chunky thighs.  I will be using the CPFs we already have.  Which cover will work best?  Are there any to steer clear of?  All your comments and advice will be very appreciated!

You know what... after 3 years of CDs I found that the cheap Dappi pull-on pants are the best for us. Cheap enough so I can have a bunch of them, easy to wash + nylon is also breathable.

If you think they are too boring, you can actually dye them permanently with Kool Aid!! I have mine in pretty colors

Other brands I like are Bummis, Bumkins, Stacinator... But they cost much more and are not that much better, so I stick to Dappis

I used Prowraps with DS and they worked just fine.  I bought some used Bummi Super Whisper Wraps this time around and really like them.  I can not really tell you why, except that the Prowraps velcro always stuck to other things and the BSWWs have nice little velcro tab things to keep that from happening (if I can get DH to remember to do them).  I have heard that the Dappis that Polhaupt recommeded work very well, but I prefer the folding over kind of covers to the pulling up kind of covers.  Like you said, a lot of it is personal preference.  There are some great inexpensive covers out there, or you can go as fancy and cute as you want.  My covers are all just plain white.  Sometimes I long for something cuter, but I have just stuck to the white ones.  (Hadn't thought to dye anything with Koolaid).

If I had the money, I would have a handful of wool covers, because I really like them, but they are expensive. 

You are right that it can be overwhelming.  That actually kept me from using cloth with DS until I met someone else who CD'd and she helped me get started.

We use proraps, and just flip them inside out and velcro it. That way the dirty side is out and no velcro stickiness.

I am in a similar situation in that I am just learning about CDing for the first time.  I am feeling totally overwhelmed too!  I am wondering about sizes and how to 'get my money's worth' in the newborn age.  My babies are typically almost nine pounds and 15 around three months, so it seems like a lot of money to buy the newborn size for possibly less than three months.  I recently bought three different covers to try with my 2 yr old, but I don't know if that is a good test for what I want to buy for the baby.  HELP!

Ok, so Chase hated the all in one and the whisper wrap.  He was perfectly content in the FuzziBunz.  He just kept saying "wrong diaper, new one diaper" when I tried the others.  Oh well , we'll keep trying.  Since he seems to like the FuzziBunz, I want to get some more, can anyone reccomend a site that has other things that I need too, like a waterproof bag, wipes, and maybe a diaper pail.  Thanks for any suggestions!

Our diaper pail is just a kitchen trash pail that has a lid. We also use the Mother Of Eden pail liner that gets tossed in the wash with the diaper load. I like to check the Sales and Announcements link at www.diaperpin.com to get the best deal on accessories. The wipes we use are just cheap washcloths from Target.

If you have a Wal-Mart near you, I know that you can get wet bags (in both diaper bag tote size and pail liner size) in the camping section, cheap washclothes and a kitchen trash bin to use as a pail.
