    Any scratchers or pinchers...

My DD always picks at my carriers. She rakes her little hand over them in kind of a scratching motion and pinches them over and over. I think it is comforting to her (kind of like how some kids rub their ears or twist at their hair)...Consequently, I cannot use brocade carriers and I sold my indio didy because I was always scared that she would snag themSurprise [:O]! Are there any other habitual rakers, pinchers, or scratchers out there or is my baby just wierd Stick out tongue [:P]

Have you tried giving you child something else to pinch? Some moms find nursing necklaces help. They can pull on the chew on the necklace instead of you. Some moms also find a feely or lovey can help. A small blanket that is soft and silky can really help. Some babies just love that sensory input.

She seems to like to scratch at the carrier more than toys or lovies (just ignores them when they are in the carrier)...I haven't tried necklaces though! Never thought of it...she doesn't really do it when she is eating. Might have to try that Smile [:)]

My DS2 does the same thing, except to my SKIN!  Especially when he's on my back.  I have a Stacy Z nursing necklace on order that I'm hoping will help.  I can commiserate with you, but can't help because I don't have a solution yet!  You're not alone!!!

My baby does this, not with carriers but with my skin.

Oddly enough he is not that into the nursing necklace. But I can't wear a gold necklace because he is all over it. :)
He also rubs my arm when he is going to sleep (usually in a carrier)...this is soooo sweet. :)

DS used to rub at my skin. He never pinched though, just rubbed. I miss that from time to time now that he's a bigger boy and has stopped!

When DS was little he used to love fabrics in general. He used to explore with his hands the different kinds of textures of fabrics, including those of carriers of course.

my dd olivia  love the  skin scratching too she scratched a finger to fall asleep then my newest addition sophia  scratches me on my chest to fall asleep too or just being in the carrier  its a comfort thing im sure with olivia ive learned if i put a silky in her hand she will scratch it and let my finger have a break  and with the lil one i just cover up my skin so i dont have rake trails from her lil razorblade  nails

My dd started doing this recently with a silk brocade pouch. It scares me so bad that she is going to snag it!

Mine is like Kim's too--all over a real chain and won't play with a nn long at all.

My little guy just likes to eat wraps. :)  He does occassionally scratch my back for me, though.  It's so very sweet.  I just wish he'd do it a bit harder.  :)
