My 20 mo old daughter sleeps with my hubby and I in our queen size bed.  My 3 mo old son sleeps in a bassinet next to the bed.  He is very big for his age and weighs 18 lbs. 

I need to figure out how to co-sleep with all 4 of us.  Has anyone tried putting a crib up against the bed by taking one side off?

We did that for DD#1! It worked great!! And then we used till she outgrew then but by then we had DD#2 so she used it as well. HTH

We had the crib next to our bed with number 1 and 2. I realy liked being able to have them start in the crib. By the time number 3 came along we really needed more space. We now have a king and queen next to each other. Our room is seriouly wall to wall bed, but we all sleep and that is nice when you have 3 children. I am more rested with 3 than I was with 2. Go for it and see if it works. My boys were huge too. Both weighed 22 lbs at their 4 month
checks lol.

I wish we could have a king and a queen next to each other!  That sounds  so cozy.  Not happening in an apartment - we will have to find a way to upgrade to a king. 

Now, do you put the crib against the wall and then push the bed up against it?

Does the crib mattress need to be the same height as the bed mattress?

Do you put anything in between the two mattresses in the crack?

I use an Arms Reach Co-Sleeper and the co sleeper mattress is not the same height as the bed mattress.  There are anchor straps from the cosleeper that attach under the bed mattress to keep the cosleeper from slipping away.  I think that if you're going to anchor the crib between the wall and the bed, it should be secure enough that the crack won't expand and pose a risk.  I run a long receiving blanket from the inside of the cosleeper to my side of the bed, covering the crack- baby and I both sleep on it and it keeps him from rolling away too much if I fall asleep while nursing and it covers the crack if he *does* roll away into the co-sleeper (which he never has).

Bed Bath and Beyond sells a foam peice that is made to attach to twins together to make a King. We considered it but never had a problem with the 2 beds slipping. I forgot the price, sorry. If you use it let us know how it works.

That foam piece is called a "bed bridge."    You can get really inexpensive ones for $12.99 at Penney's or Sear's (online has 'em too).  You can get a REALLY nice one at SkyMall.  (Where I got the idea....I FLY a lot....lol!)

I pushed two twins together to make a King for my two toddlers in their room.    They usually wake up arm and arm.  :)   They are still often with us, though, and the baby.....ALWAYS with mom.  :)
