Attached to Baby

My toddler is 25 months. He is going through a phase where he only wants to be worn on my front. I know it is more cuddly, and I have given in each time. He is so heavy over 35lbs, and I don't know I can do it for long hauls? Has anyone gone through this?

When Rachel is not feeling well or is very tired, she likes to be held in a FWCC. I find that it is very comfortable if I do this with my Didymos. She will often fall asleep and we have done this at the end of a long day at Busch Gardens and for the better part of a 5K walk/run. It is only every once in a while that she likes to be carried in the front, she much prefers cuddling on my back in the minkee lined BabyHawk XT mei tai. At her 2 year appointment, she was 36 pounds, I'm not sure how much she weighs now but is 28 months and wears 4T-5T clothes and XL FuzziBunz.

My son is only 18 lbs but he has always preferred to be in the front. No matter how tight my hip carry is he works his way to the front magically! Maybe it's so they get a better view of your face? I don't know but when he hits 25+ lbs that will get heavy to do all the time!

I'm right there with you, Beth.

Braeden is about 28p, and right now pretty much refuses any back carry in a wrap (but can get him back there in a MT for some weird reason), and will not simmer down until I put him in the wcc on my front. This is all well and good, I can still handle his weight up front (yay for Didymos!), but my problem is that his long legs bump my thighs as I walk, and he'll dig his shoes into me (need soft soles...but the kid has WIDE feet...nothing fits!) and it just plucks my nerves.

I know he's going to come around and want to be on my back again....and then I'll miss him being up front where I can kiss him readily (and have him shove his fingers up my nose...lol).

This too shall pass....:)

Rachel also has really wide feet. Have you tried the Preschoolians brand of shoes? They are fabulous! They have a super flexible sole and come with inserts to fit narrow, regular or wide feet.

Yes thank goodness for didymos. I went to the M.O.A today. We were there for 3 hours and for 2 1/2 hours by huge toddler wanted to be carried. There is no way I would have been able to do it without my didy.

We just switched to shoes for him. We got the extra wide width tennis shoes at stride rite. I am sure it would have been much easier to get him in and out with soft soled shoes, but I keep thinking he will actually walk more, lol.

LOL...I tried to try them. It's a long and ugly story. I ordered a pair, but the bungee cord adjustment on the style we tried didn't work for Mr. Bigfoot, so I wanted to exchange. Took them two weeks to get back to me and then they could not fill my exchange w/ a velcro style. I ended up ebaying the shoes b/c I could never get a return label from them (finally did).

I still want to try them....but the delay they had from order to shipment scared me off for a bit. I just got him a pair of Toddler Treads (not really soft soles, but fit him GREAT!) that I love...very wide foot friendly. :)

Definitely need some soft soles for this kid....he is killing me w/ his shoes! LOL! I'm going to check into another pair of Preschoolians soon. :)

Could the delay have been from the Chinese New Year Holiday? I ordered mine during thst period but instead of just ordering cold, I called their customer support number to maek sure I was measuring correctly for size. The woman I talked with told me that their shoes are all made in China and it sounded like they were kinda made to order. She told me that because the people in China take a week or so off of work to celebrate the New Year Holiday, that new orders wouldn't be shipped for about 2-3 weeks. She let me know that she had 2 styles in the size that I needed in her office and so I ordered one of those pairs and had them at my house 2 days later. The return shiping label was actually part of the invoice that was sent with the order. I wish that there were more places that sold them than just the official Preschoolians site. If you do order again from them I would definitely mention your experience.
