A spin-off of the Asian Mei Tai design, these carriers have inevitably evolved into more mainstream friendly designs. We'll call them Buckle Carriers, but they've also been coined "SSCs" or Soft Structured Carriers recently. Shoulder and/or waist-band padding, buckle straps, sleeping/sun hoods differentiate them from the traditional Mei Tai.
Attached to Baby only carries comfortable, ergonomically-correct buckle carriers. The one who started it all off was the ERGO Baby Carrier. Patapum soon followed, and then smaller work-at-home mom companies hit the market with the super popular Beco, AngelPack LX, and Catbird Baby Pikkolo carrier. Each one is slightly different from the other and may offer their own innovations.
