I bet my DH would let the kids live with my parents during the training time and visit when he could.  That is so hard.  We know a guy who's "baby-mama" (we live in Indy, she's in seattle) is out at sea (she's navy) and her baby is 24 hour daycare....its really sad....he's trying to get custody while she's out at sea.
