    Re: Insomnia

Do you have any of the restless leg thing?  I have had a lot of problems with that during this pregnancy and my chiropractor suggested taking some extra magnesium.  I have been amazed at how well it works.  I don't know if part of it is psychological, but who cares, I am sleeping!  I notice about 9pm that my legs start getting jumpy and have taken anywhere from 1-3 mag tablets before heading to bed.  I have also been doing yoga and relaxation to help clear my mind and put me in the sleep mode.  Of course, I am overdue with this baby now, so that isn't helping sleeping matters any!

    Good luck!

I haven't been sleeping either. I have no good reason, except I lay there thinking about stuff all the time. I tossed and turned all night last night. I try to zone out on TV before bed. If I hang out on the computer it keep me up longer, go figure, lol.

    Re: Insomnia

There are several herbal things that can help. Valerian is awesome. It smells like dirty sweatsocks, but man does it work!  Also try melatonin--but be careful with this one. It can give a hangover the next day. Take a low dose, and take it early in the evening. They also say taking calcium at bedtime can help sleep.
I use the melatonin rarely, but take the valerian almost every night. Also, chamomile, hops, and a couple other herbs I can't think of now. Or try Celestial Seasonings SleepyTime tea--it has a lot of these herbs in it and is very soothing.

    Re: Insomnia

    Is it better now JoLynda?

    How about:

    1.  TOTALLY darkened room.  (Better healthwise, too!  I have a cite for a good book on the if you are interested.)
    2.  No caffiene AT ALL during the day.
    3.  Socks on the feet at night.
    4.  Bath to relax you.
    5.  For some people, some horizontal time with their partner makes them sleepy.   (Please edit if tmi...!)
    6.  Spend LARGE amounts of your day OUTDOORS...preferably a big chunk in the MORNING!
    7.  Just like a baby, a routine and regular bedtime MAY help.
    8.  Temp in room a bit cooler than normal.

    Re: Insomnia

Check the active ingrediants. LLL has a drug book that gives a rating on its compatability with breastfeeding. Amy has the book right now.
