    sensitive noses

Why do smells bother moms so much when pregnant? I gagged so many times at the store today. I can barely take out the garbage without holding my breath.
    Anyone know?

    First, congrats!!

Don't quote me on it, but I believe it's a natural mechanism to help you find good things to eat and avoid things that might be dangerous to the baby.  Not that is always works... Smile [:)]

    Beth,
I wish I knew the answer.  I can't believe you were able to take the trash out!  I only changed Brady's diapers if no one else was around, the smell made me even more nauseated.  LOL.

My dh keeps making fun of me if I gag. I can't help it, smells are really getting to me. I gagged 2 times in the store by the dognuts (yes very weird). The sugarey dognut smell was very nauseating.

Yea!!!!! Congrats!!!!  How did I miss that news??? Been stuck at home with sick kids (yes, again) ... guess I'm out of the loop!  But soooo excited for you!

I also feel for you!  I ended up passing off all grocery store duty to dh when I was pregnant... just took me too long to shop when I was running to throw up so many times!  I would agree that it keeps us away from the bad and encourages us to eat good/better foods.  I'm a certified choc-aholic and coffe-aholic ... but I would not even set foot in a Starbucks during the first 6 months of my pregnancies. I remember crying about it even: "What if I can never drink coffee again?!!?!"  But here I am with an iced mocha in handSmile [:)]Coffee [C]Big Smile [:D]

    Re: sensitive noses

    Congrats!  what great news!

I have no idea why the nose is so sensitive.  When I was PG with Tristan last year, we ended up doing most of our grocery shopping with Simon Delivers, it was a little more expensive than going to the grocery store, but I don't think we would have eaten without it!  I couldn't walk into a grocery store without gagging!
