    Junky eyes and breastmilk

I have always heard to use BM to treat pink eye.  I don't think this is pink eye, maybe a blocked tear duct? but I was wondering if the same applies.  I figure it is worth a shot!

So, a few drops of BM, but how often??  Any suggestions would be appreciated!

There are different ways you can do it. Some moms squirt a few drops in after a let down at each feeding. Some moms express the milk and use an eye dropper 3 or 4 times a day. If it is a plugged duct, you might try gently messaging the area. You can also check with your Dr. to see what they recommend. Aiden is young so there might be something else going on, it is always good to check.

DS1 had a plugged tear duct when he was a wee babe.  Massaging the area 3-4 times a day helped.  He really is a new baby--I'd call the MD's office if you're really not sure about whether it's pink eye or plugged tear duct.

Well, I called the pediatrician and, naturally, they wanted me to bring him right in.  I brought him in and the doctor said it could be a plugged duct or it could be pink eye.  No way to tell according to him.  So then he told me that most pink eyes are viral and handed me a prescription for antibiotic drops!?!  No other concerns from the doctor. . .especially with BF, he is 4 ounces above his birthweight at 8 days!  So, they want me to do drops until next week's check-up, is this where I can just substitute BM?  I really think it is just a plugged duct.  How long does the massage take to start working?  (I started that last night)
