Who has tried Instead Soft Cups?

I actually had heard of them, and dismissed the thought as "wierd" but now that I've been TTC for awhile, I heard of women using them after bd to keep sperm by the cervix? Anyway, I bought them and after reading up I think if things don't work out this month I would give it a try with AF. So, before I use them, anyone tried them? They are kind of big and intimidating! But they "swear" you can't feel them in???

They suck for AF. At least that is what I have found. I think I would get a diva cup instead if it was only for AF. But for purposes of TTC I think thats a neat idea!

Really. That's a bummer! I was so excited. Without being to graphic or personal or anything, how come it didn't work well? Uncomfortable? Leakage? I'm just curious. I looked up Diva Cup and that looks really uncomfortable. But this is coming from someone who never has even used a tampon and had a c-section...

I tried it when I was a teenager, it was kinda leaky and uncomfortable. Grossly, it was a mess to remove.

If you go on the baby-wearer and type in diva cup there is a lot of info. I saw a diva at the health food store and it is much better sized then the instead IMO.

I am curious about these too.

I wonder if it would work better after having a child?  It seems that your anatomy changes some since they recommend things like IUD are better after you have had children.

    Just a thought. . .

Okay well I'm gonna work up the nerve to maybe try them. I still think the diva cup looks intimidating!

I saw those Diva cups on a site recently while research cloth diapers and wondered about them.  I would be really interested to know how it works out for you with AF.  Feel free to PM me if you don't want to go into details on a post.

Well, I tried the instead today and Jolynda was right...not very great. It went in ok execpt I had a REALLY hard time removing it. I paniced for a minute even. However, I only last 3 hours before it leaked!!!! So maybe I put it in wrong? Doesn't matter, it was so hard to get out I think I'll pass! Oh, and very very messy to remove. There was stuff everywhere!

Good to know.  Don't try Instead soft cups! Smile [:)]  If you decide to try the Diva cup let me know how that goes.  I have used tampons for many years because I don't like the feeling of a pad.  It sure would be nice to have some sort of alternative that was worth trying.

I did years ago, and they worked rather well.  My only gripe would be that if they happen to be a little "full" and you tip it (bend over, lay down, etc.) some may leak out.  However, I really liked them.  You can't feel them inside at all, though on heavy days. . . might get a little sketchy. . .

Re: Who has tried Instead Soft Cups?

I've tried them for both AF and TTC purposes. It wasn't so bad for TTC purposes, not nearly as messy. It didn't help, of the cycles we used them, not one resulted in conception. Found it messy and leaky for AF. I bought a Divacup and used it for the first time last month. I like that MUCH better. Much cleaner to remove, and it never leaked when inserted right. TMI, probably, but after my second baby, my AF was ridiculously heavy, and this was seriously the first time I've been able to go more than 2 hours without going to the bathroom, and the first time I've gone all night. I would recommend trying them out if they intrigue you. The only downside, and for this, I would suggest ordering two, is cleaning them out when you empty them... it's not much fun standing at the sink, cleaning it out as quickly as you can while hoping you don't leak. Big Smile Hope that helps.

Thanks for that info.  I might have to give that Diva cup a try!

I tried them a few years back.  No comparison to the Diva although they would be better than a tampon, IMO!
